Jeweni Roppel covered many kilometers on his travels for the Thingstätte project: from Góra Świętej Anny in Poland to Jülich near the Belgian border, he photographed numerous Thingstätte in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Northrhein-Westphalia. Again and again, the eye is drawn to the stones and steps that form the architecture typical of National Socialist Thingstätte. Some of them are overgrown and hardly visible, others present today’s open-air stages like the Loreley or the Waldbühne in Schwarzenberg, known for cultural events.
